Minimum orders and pricing

Most manufacturers set minimums that only make sense for established brands. We work differently — our minimums are low enough that a new brand can launch properly, test the market and reorder, rather than gambling a whole budget on one large run.

How our minimums work

We quote minimums per project rather than publishing fixed numbers, because what is realistic genuinely depends on the product. A powder in a simple tub can start considerably lower than a gummy or a custom-tooled device. Tell us what you want to make and we will give you a straight answer on the smallest viable first run.

  • Minimums vary by format — powders and liquids typically start lowest
  • Applied per product and per flavour or variant, since each needs its own run
  • We will always tell you the smallest viable order rather than pushing volume
  • Trial runs are sometimes possible below our usual minimum — ask

What drives the price

We quote per project rather than publishing a price list, because the variables genuinely change the number. The main factors:

  • Order volume — unit cost falls significantly at higher quantities
  • Formulation complexity and ingredient cost
  • Packaging format and whether tooling is required
  • Labelling — printed labels, sleeves or fully printed packaging
  • Testing and notification requirements for the category
  • Whether you supply artwork or need it produced

One-off setup costs

Beyond the per-unit price, expect some initial costs on a first production run. These are not repeated on reorders, which is why unit economics improve considerably on your second batch.

  • Formulation development, where a bespoke product is being created
  • Sampling rounds beyond the included allowance
  • Artwork setup and print origination
  • MHRA notification and required testing for nicotine products
  • Tooling, where a custom pack format is specified

Scaling up

Most of our customers start at or near the minimum and increase volume as they establish demand. Reorders are faster and cheaper than first runs — the formulation is fixed, artwork is already approved, and any notification requirements are already satisfied. Reorder lead times are typically around half the original.

Common questions

What is your minimum order quantity?

It depends on the product and format, so we quote it per project. Powders and liquids generally start lower than capsules, gummies or devices. Tell us what you want to make and we will give you a firm minimum and price.

Why do you have minimum order quantities at all?

Production runs involve fixed setup costs — cleaning down lines, calibrating fill equipment, print origination. Below a certain volume the per-unit cost becomes uneconomic for both of us. Our minimums are set at the point where the numbers still work for a new brand.

Can you do a smaller trial run?

Sometimes, depending on the format and how busy the line is. Ask us. A trial run will carry a higher unit cost, but it can be worth it if you genuinely need to test a market before committing.

Is the minimum per product or per order?

Per product, and generally per flavour or variant, since each one requires its own production run. If you are launching three flavours, the minimum applies to each.

Do I pay upfront?

Typically a deposit on order confirmation with the balance due before dispatch. Exact terms are set out in your quote, and we can discuss alternatives for larger or repeat orders.
